XPPen sent me their new Artist pro 16 gen 2 screen tablet to try out so I made this painting with it,
I've never been a fan of screen tablets in general, they're great for line drawing but for painting I prefer being far away from the screen like with a regular tablet. Nevertheless I was able to get used to it pretty quickly and it was quite confortable to work on. I really appreciated how simple the setup was, just a usb C cable into my macbook, no alim cable (this is only if you have a usb C port and probably standard for screen tablets now, idk) The precision felt OK but not incredible, even after calibration I felt like the pointer was always a little off from my pen and the build quality feels a bit cheap on some parts, there was a rubber part in the back that immediately felt like it could start coming off. I also wish the stand allowed you to have it at a higher angle but it's good enough. The screen has a nice confortable resolution for the size and was pretty well calibrated (a very important point imo).
They've definitely improved their products, last time I tried this brand was 4 years ago and the quality felt super cheap back then. It's a good alternative to Wacom at that price point, but it's still cheaper for a reason. For the same price you can get the regular Cintiq 16 which I would trust more in terms of durability, but has less resolution. Hope that helps ✌️
